To cosplay, or not to cosplay.

A long time ago some where back in 1978 people started to attend comic book/Manga conventions dressing up as there favourite character, but today it’s a lot more then that… Nope it’s still the same really.

Being both a noun and a verb, the word cosplay is very good at multitasking much like the people who perform said word, they not only can act/perform (well at least some can) but they also have a creative side, that they use and is reflected in there costumes and props (well at least some are, some buy online)

The following is some facts/list and info found on UrbanDictionary.com

Cosplay is an abbreviation of "costume-play" and cosplays are made for the following reasons.

1.) To recreate a 2 dimensional art form into 3-D.
2.) To challenge one's self to create a cosplay. Many of which don’t seem possible to physically create, but somehow are.
3.) To show appreciation and/or interest in a certain anime/manga/videogame.
4.) To take pride in a cosplay that looks well done.
5.) Because normal cloths are dull and cosplays are much more interesting to wear. And each cosplay is one of a kind unique considering the wearer most likely made it him/herself.
6.) its a Hobby
----
Reasons why cosplays are worn:
1.) To take pride in ones own creation
2.) To wear something out of the ordinary (societies restrictions on what is allowable to be worn everyday is bland)
3.) To show support and/or interest in an anime/manga/videogame
4.) Self expression. Often the character that is chosen to be cosplayed mirrors the actual person wearing the cosplay. The person's personality is like the character Not the other way around (the person wants to be the character).
5.) To get into the spirit of the convention
6.) To have fun
----
Cosplayers cosplay for the same reasons that...
1.)Sports fans wear there teams colours and paint themselves for games.
2.)Goths wear all black, punk wear punk cloth, Preps wear tight cloth, "gangsters" wear baggy cloth....
But for cosplayers....A cosplay is worn for 1-3 days out of the year. A limited and restrained form of self expression.
----
Cosplay is a "HOBBY". Much like a model builder builds models, a person modifies their car, a hunter hunts (when they can buy food instead), a gamer plays games, a sports fan watches sports. A cosplayer cosplays (makes costumes).
-------
For every 7 good cosplays there is one that someone did without putting any effort into. Those crappy cosplays are the ones that are shown on message boards and posted around everywhere. These shit cosplays are what give the rest of the cosplayers a bad name.
-----

So now that you know a little bit more about cosplay you will be able to… you will now understand… you won’t judge the… I really don’t know why I did this.

Happy Cosplaying

Behind the tails

Part one (Prologue to chapter 6)

Welcome to part one of behind the tails, of Two Tails my story that I’m slowly writing, in this post we will be looking at some things you may have missed over the last year and a half and 6 chapters

Kira and her house

The first time we see her house in the story is in chapter 1 this is also the first time the Guild appear, not as we know them but as a distant fear. The lights in the distance as mentioned in chapter 1 as Mori and Chichi left Kira’s house were created from lanterns that the gild had with them, and what we don’t get to read in this chapter ( may change in editing) is the Guild asking Kira questions, but still is referred to in chapter 4.
In chapter 4 when Kane said to Kira “It seems you weren’t straight with us the first time we were here” referrers to the light heading to her house in chapter 1 and is the second time Kira and her house are in the story, the third time was in chapter 5 when Chichi and Edwin come across the burnt house and Kira was the dead body that they had found and the person that Kane is talking about when he is talking to Mori.

Chichi and Edwin

Chichi AKA Chiyo Ninomiyo, and Edwin AKA Kamoku AKA Edwin Miyake, meet way back in the prologue based in Konoha where Chichi was born.
Chichi was born in was is known as a glass castle, not a real castle and not really make of glass, the glass component is the glass wall that fenced of a large patch of land and a large lords house, (or a castle to the English speaking people like our selves) that was inside the wall.
Edwin at the end of the prologue runs away, as soon after the Guild kill everyone inside the wall compound area, but only chichi survives because she hid herself under the building, where Mori finds her takes her to Kira’s and then to the wind temple.
In the mean time Edwin finds his way to the temple, where in chapter 3 Edwin and Chichi and united again, but the happiness doesn’t continue, the Guild finds the temple and attack at the end of chapter 4.
Now Edwin and Chichi are on the run away from the Guild, trying to find somewhere safe, but they don’t even know where that is yet.

What’s Coming next chapter?

At the end of chapter 6 we a left with an annoying cliff-hanger. Who is that guy? And how long do we have to wait to find out? Who know but its going to be good, and who’s Oonishi and is she going to be able to help Chichi and Edwin, only time can answer these questions… and chapter 7

So until next time, you’re dog/cat/bird/frog is a terrorist

I have an App for that... its called LIFE!

Facebook has no fun any more, I remember when you could live in a shoe, or be in a relationship with something that doesn’t breath, talk, or eat... Like a shoe... Now you have to live in places that are real, and you can only be in relationships with people who are on you friends list... Where's the fun it that?

And what the hell people its just Facebook, you can't really look after sheep or run a cafe... It’s not real, I haven't looked my farm in a year but the sheep should be dead... they most likely won't be, and what do you know they are fine needed to be harvested, how the hell do you harvest sheep? Anyway… Oh and since when dose cupid need a house he’s just some child in a diaper with wings holding a bow and is packin’ arrows, the dude don’t need a house… so why did I just buy it, then sell it?  Because it’s NOT REAL

I will have you know that Facebook is not even a word, yes online Dictionary’s know the word, but WORD doesn’t even know the word, and if you can find a printed Dictionary with Facebook in it I will give you a cookie… not and Internet cookie a real one, you know one that will satisfy hunger, unlike the internet ones, but really are we really that completely hooked on Facebook, that we can go a day without posting a comment or loading some funny picture?

Why is it clothing shops, super markets, trains and busses have Facebook pages? Even TV and radio stations have their own Facebook pages as well at websites, App’s and Twitter, are we really that that hocked?

Lets concentrate on this HOCKED idea shall we, why is it we feel like we must post funny quote, must upload photo, must inform others where we are and how much fun we are having, must tell others about some cool website we just found or tell people if they are not added to the list on Facebook, of friends going to your party, your not invited, or complain when Facebook updates and takes the fun options away, or even when Facebook stops working for an hour, do we feel the need to tell Twitter all about it?  Why? Because we are hocked, but not just on Facebook, but on the internet it’s self.

Here is a list of questions to ask you’re self.

When was the last time you walked in to a library?
When was the last time you texted someone?
When was the last time you picked up a pen and wrote a letter to someone?
What was the last book you read?
When was the last time you didn’t turn on you computer for a whole day?
When was the last time you didn’t use Facebook or Twitter on your phone?
When was the last time you picked up the house phone and called someone?
How long have you been on the computer for non stop?
How many songs have you down loaded illegally?
What was the last album you got, and parted with you money for?
When was last time you saw you friends face to face?
What was the last show recorded on VCR
What was the last tape you listen to?
When was the last time you listened to a record?

And the big one

Can you remember what life was like without it all, No Facebook, no internet, no mp3 players, no DVD’s, no live chat, no Twitter, no MySpace, no YouTube, no Mobile phones, no digital cameras, no CD’s, no personal computers, no UBS’s or hard drives, no HD, and no Iphone, CAN you remember life without it all?

Didn’t it just seem all easer back then?

Sorry if I made you think to hard.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day

Shortened version of what Wikipedia has to say on the topic of Valentine’s Day.

Rome
Early Christian martyrs were named Valentine and the Valentines were honored on February 14, anyway one was lock in jail and on the evening before this Valentine was to be executed, he wrote the first “valentine” himself, addressed to a young girl variously identified as his beloved, as the jailer's daughter whom he had befriended and healed, or both. It was a note that read “From your Valentine.”

Egypt
In Egypt, Egyptians celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14, and the indigenous Eid el-Hob el-Masri (Egyptian Love Day) on November 4, to buy gifts, and flowers for their lovers.
Denmark and Norway
In Denmark and Norway, Valentine's Day (14 Feb) is known as Valentinsdag. It is not celebrated to a large extent, but is largely imported from American culture, and some people take time to eat a romantic dinner with their partner, to send a card to a secret love or give a red rose to their loved one. The flower industry in particular is still working on promoting the holiday.

Sweden
In Sweden it is called Alla hjärtans dag ("All Hearts' Day") and was launched in the 1960s by the flower industry's commercial interests, and due to the influence of American culture. It is not an official holiday, but its celebration is recognized and sales of cosmetics and flowers for this holiday are only exceeded by those for Mother's Day.

Finland and Estonia
In Finland Valentine's Day is called Ystävänpäivä which translates into "Friend's day". As the name indicates, this day is more about remembering all your friends, not only your loved ones. In Estonia Valentine's Day is called Sõbrapäev, which has the same meaning.

Romania
In Romania, the traditional holiday for lovers is Dragobete, which is celebrated on February 24. It is named after a character from Romanian folklore who was supposed to be the son of Baba Dochia. Part of his name is the word drag ("dear"), which can also be found in the word dragoste ("love"). In recent years, Romania has also started celebrating Valentine's Day, despite already having Dragobete as a traditional holiday. This has drawn backlash from many groups, reputable persons and institutions but also nationalist organizations like Noua Dreaptǎ, who condemn Valentine's Day for being superficial, commercialist and imported Western kitsch.

Brazil
In Brazil, the Dia dos Namorados (lit. "Day of the Enamored", or "Boyfriends'/Girlfriends' Day") is celebrated on June 12, when couples exchange gifts, chocolates, cards and flower bouquets. This day was chosen probably because it is the day before the Festa junina (Saint Anthony's day), known there as the marriage saint, when traditionally many single women perform popular rituals, called simpatias, in order to find a good husband or boyfriend. The February 14's Valentine's Day is not celebrated at all.

Japan
Women give chocolate to men on February 14, and men give non-chocolate candy to women on March 14 (White Day). On April 14 (Black Day), those who did not receive anything on the 14th of Feb or March go to a restaurant to eat black noodles (jajangmyeon) and "mourn" their single life

The custom that only women give chocolates to men appears to have originated from a chocolate-company campaign. Office ladies give chocolate to their co-workers unlike western countries where they give gifts such as greeting cards, candies, flowers, or dinner dates; it’s about giving the right amount of chocolate to each person.

Many women feel obliged to give chocolates to all male co-workers, except when the 14th falls on a Sunday, a holiday. This is known as giri-choko from giri ("obligation") and choko, ("chocolate"), with unpopular co-workers receiving only "ultra-obligatory" chō-giri choko cheap chocolate. This contrasts with honmei-choko (本命チョコ, Favorite chocolate); chocolate given to a loved one. Friends, especially girls, may exchange chocolate referred to as tomo-choko (友チョコ); from tomo meaning "friend".

In the 1980s the Japanese National Confectionery Industry Association launched a successful campaign to make March 14 a "reply day", where men are expected to return the favor to those who gave them chocolates on Valentine's Day, calling it White Day for the color of the chocolates being offered. A previous failed attempt to popularize this celebration had been done by a marshmallow manufacturer who wanted men to return marshmallows to women.

Men are expected to return gifts that are at least two or three times more valuable than the gifts received in Valentine's Day. Not returning the gift is perceived as the men placing himself in a position of superiority, even if excuses are given. Returning a present of equal value is considered as a way to say that you are cutting the relationship. Originally only chocolate was given, but now the gifts of jewelry, accessories, clothing and lingerie are usual. According to the official website of White Day, the color white was chosen because it's the color of purity, evoking "pure, sweet teen love", and because it's also the color of sugar. The initial name was "Ai ni Kotaeru White Day" (Answer Love on White Day).

I hope this lets people understand that it’s not just about some child in a diaper with wings holding a bow and is packin’ LOVE arrows; it’s a little bit of misunderstanding, chocolate company campaign, martyrs named Valentine and some massacre in Chicago, in 1929.

Wishing you a happy (what ever the hell you like) day.
